Ironton tennis beats Waverly to even record

WAVERLY - The Ironton Fighting Tigers used a sweep to get even.
Ironton won all its singles and doubles matches as they beat the Waverly Tigers 6-0 to even its record at 7-7 on the season.
In singles play, Lavell Medcalf beat Ben McDonie 6-3, 7-5, Britt Roach topped Blair Taylor 6-3, 6-2, and Joe Crowe downed Jeff Cox 6-1, 7-6.
In doubles play, Ironton's Marcus Williams and Robbie Downs won 7-6, 6-1 over Corey Williamson and Skymr Bevens, Demetrius Givens and Brian Wirzfeld topped Tobi Meis and Nate Hopkins 6-3, 6-4, and Austin Cornett and Anthony Clark downed Phillip Migyanko and Brad Frost 8-2.
Ironton, led by No. 1-seed Medcalf,
will play in the sectional tournament next Tuesday at Portsmouth.
