Lady Vikings take advantage of Titan errors

PORTSMOUTH - If you make a mistake, the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings have a way of pointing things out.
The Lady Vikings took advantage of three errors and six walks as they beat the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans 8-2 Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
"We had some scoring up and down the lineup, got some clutch hits and capitalized on their mistakes," Lady Vikings coach Jeff "Odie" Estep said.
Lori Harmon tossed
3-hitter for the win. She struck out 13 and walked just one.
The Lady Vikings broke on top with two runs in the first inning.
Erin Martin singled, Harmon walked and Rebecca Capper was safe on a misplayed fly ball for a run. Kristen Crabtree reached on an error as Harmon scored.
The lead went to 4-0 in the third inning.
Capper walked, Crabtree was safe on an error, Natasha Pointer walked and a wild pitch scored Capper. Kayla Justice reached on an error as Crabtree came home.
The Lady Vikings got a run in the fourth inning. Martin and Harmon singled to put runners on the corners, and a bad pickoff throw at third base allowed Martin to score.
After Notre Dame got two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, Symmes Valley got a run back in the fifth inning.
Crabtree singled, moved to third base on two wild pitches and came home when Justice grounded out.
The final two runs scored in the sixth
Martin and Bowling walked to start the inning. Two passed balls scored Martin, and Bowling came home when Megan Coomes singled.
Martin was 2-for-3 while Capper went 2-4.
Symmes Valley, 15-2 and 11-0 in the SOC, plays at Portsmouth East Wednesday.
