Fact error neglected other WWII POWs

Lonnie "Pidy" Butler earned his day of recognition, but many others are equally as worthy of our praise and thanks.
An article in Friday's edition reported that Butler would be recognized Saturday by Ironton Mayor John Elam's office for being the county's last surviving World War II prisoner of war. However, Butler is not alone.
Several former POWs are still surviving in the county. The error came from misinformation provided to the mayor's office. The Tribune staff regrets the error and are happy to set the record straight. For an apology from Elam see page 4A.
