Symmes Valley coach Alvin Carpenter may need some Dramamine.

The up and down play of the Symmes Valley Vikings is keeping Carpenter on the edge of his seat, much as it did Tuesday as the Vikings outscored the St. Joseph Flyers

in the second half to take an 83-68 win.

St. Joseph led by 4 points at the half only to have Symmes Valley comeback in the second half and outscore the Flyers 56 to 37.

"We're like that rollercoaster at King's Island. Sometimes we play well and sometimes we don't. We're just up and down," Carpenter said.

"The first half they outplayed us. The second half we were a different team."

St. Joseph took a 20-17 in the first quarter as Jeremy Addis scored 8 points. Cory Burcham got 6 points to keep the Vikings close.

In the second quarter, Justin Ferguson scored six points to offset 8 by the Flyers Corey Lewis and keep the Vikings close at 31-27.

But the Vikings exploded for 24 points in the third quarter and 32 more in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.

"The second half we just put things together," Carpenter said.

Leading 51-49 after three quarters, Michael White got 12 points in the fourth quarter to and Justin Holland converted 6 of 6 from the foul line down the stretch to secure the win.
