SOUTH POINT - The force was with them.

Using their fullcourt pressure, the South Point Lady Pointers beat the Tolsia Lady Rebels 70-56 Monday.

"We forced them into a lot of turnovers. Both teams were pressing, which pushed the tempo up," Pointers coach Dave Adams said. "It was a battle, just like it always is with them. It was nice to come out of it with a win."

South Point fell behind 8-1 to start the game but closed to within 14-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Jessi Craft had 9 points, Sarah Lee scored 7 and Elista Joyce had 4 more as South Point outscored Tolsia 20-8 in the second quarter to build a 30-22 halftime lead.

Cassandra Jerrell had 5 points and Martha Maynard 4 points in the third quarter but South Point maintained an 8-point lead at 42-34.

Tolsia closed the gap to 44-41 early in the fourth quarter, but Hall scored 8 points, Craft hit a 3-pointer and converted 4 of 4 from the foul line to spark the Pointers' surge. Alisha Bridges added a 3-pointer and South Point converted 9 of 14 from the foul line in the fourth quarter including Craft who was 4 of 4 and Amy Frasure who was 3 of 4.

"Amy Frasure didn't score a lot of points, but she had a real nice game," Adams said.

Craft finished with 20 points for the Pointers (4-1). Bridges had 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Lee added 11 points and Latisha Koukos had 11 rebound.

Jerrell scored 14 points while Nicole Hall and Toni Barley had 11 points each.

South Point hosts Rock Hill Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
