South Point child dies in car, truck crash Wednesday

PERRY TOWNSHIP- A three-car accident on County Road 1 Wednesday evening as left a South Point child dead and three other people injured.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Maggie Hunt, 19, of South Point, was driving north on Township Road 1186 when she apparently failed to yield for a stop sign at the intersection of Township Road 1186 and County Road 1.
Her 2001 Kia was then struck by a west-bound dump truck driven by Charles Edwards, 47, of South Point. Hunt's vehicle then struck a third car that was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Township Road 508 and County Road 1. Brenda McMillian, the drive of the third car, and Edwards were not injured in the accident.
A 5-year-old boy riding in Hunt's car was taken to King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky., where he was pronounced dead. A 1-year-old female from South Point was taken to Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., where she is listed in critical condition.
Another passenger in Hunt's car, Janie Hunt, 53, of South Point, is listed in serious condition at King's Daughters Medical Center. Maggie Hunt was treated and released.
The crash remains under investigation.
