Probably no one can forget where they were when they heard about the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001.
One local group wants to make sure no one forgets the sacrifices made by first responders who, in some cases, gave their lives in an effort to save others that day, as well as the sacrifices made by American service
men and women who are serving or have served their country in battle.
The Red, White and Blue Committee, an organization of local veterans, will have a reception from 9-11 a.m. on the Lawrence County Courthouse lawn Sept. 11.
The reception will honor veterans and those who are in the military at this time, as well as firefighters, police officers and emergency medical services personnel.
As far as we're concerned, they're heroes," committee member Craig Allen said. "We want to let people know how much we appreciate them. We would appreciate everyone who can do so to come and show their appreciation for our heroes."
Craig said a letter from
Lt. Col. Craig Evans, of the Ohio National Guard 216th Battalion, now stationed in Iraq, will be read during the reception.
The reception will be on the fourth street lawn of the courthouse.
