PROCTORVILLE - The win went to the Fairland Dragons. The credit went to Tyler Bowman.
The Dragons senior outfielder went 3-3 including a game-winning two-run homer as Fairland beat the Huntington St. Joseph Fighting Irish 5-3 Tuesday.
"We needed a game like that from Tyler. We didn't play very well, but we managed to get the win," Fairland coach Roger Snyder said.
Fairland took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Bowman walked, stole second, and scored on a double by Nick Zundel.
The lead went to 3-0 in the sixth inning.
Matt Clark walked and stole second to start the inning. Adam Fuller was safe on a passed ball strikeout and the throw to first base was wild allowing Clark to score.
Fuller stole second and came home when Bowman doubled.
The Irish tied the game in the seventh inning.
David Kmen homered to start the inning. With two outs, Nate Rogers and Steven Cole walked, both moved up on a passed ball, and Chris Setser doubled them home.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Bo Adams singled with one out and Bowman followed with his game-winning blow.
Cory McKnight got the win in relief as he struck out three and did not allow a hit.
Fairland, 13-3, plays at Rock Hill Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game. The Dragons need a win to clinch at least a share of the league title.
