Symmes Valley came into Friday's game 8-4 and the St. Joseph Flyers just 2-10. The final score didn't reflect those numbers as the Vikings put together a late rally to beat the Flyers 7-4.

The game was tied heading into the bottom of the sixth inning when the Vikings scored three times to get the win.

St. Joseph started the scoring with a run in the first.

Cory Lewis singled, stole second, took third on a wild pitch, and scored when Ryan Waginger grounded out.

The Vikings tied the game as Cory Burcham walked, stole second, took third on a wild pitch, and came home when Chad Artrip grounded out.

The Flyers came back to take a 2-1 lead in the second when Joe O'Leary, Ryan Schwab, Aaron Whaley and Kurt Jordan all walked.

Symmes Valley took a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning.

Chase Higgins was hit by a pitch, Jesse Myers was safe on an error, two wild pitches scored Higgins, and Justin Walsh singled in Myers.

The lead went to 4-2 in the fifth inning on a one-out solo home run by Caleb Bland.

But the Flyers tied the score with two runs in the top of the sixth.

Jeremy Addis singled, stole second, and came home on a double by Alex Swarts. After Swarts stole third, O'Leary walked and Johnny Joeckel grounded out for an RBI.

The Vikings then got the winning rally going in the bottom of the inning.

Jon Dillon walked, Burcham singled, and Matt Owens was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Two runs scored on back-to-back wild pitches, and Artrip singled home the final run.

"Jeremy Addis did a nice job for us. He hasn't thrown more than three innings all year," Flyers coach Greg Bryant said. "We just need to cut down on walks and offensively get some timely hits."

The Flyers lost 12-2 at Portsmouth East on Thursday. Jordan was 2-3 for the Flyers.

St. Joseph, 2-11, hosts South Gallia Monday.
