Parts of Ironton's floodwall along the Ohio River has colorful murals that reflect grander parts of the past of the city and county.

Some would-be artists apparently decided recently to make a few "murals" of their own.

Ironton police are investigating graffiti that was spray-painted on the floodwall late last week or early this week. None of the actual murals were damaged by the graffiti.

In his report, Ironton police Capt. Jerry Leach noted that the damage to the floodwall was

"the exact same type of graffiti that has been spray-painted on the back of the Big Lots building on the end adjacent to the Center Street landing railroad crossing."

The words "got ya," "Nate Dizzle" and "where you @," along with various artwork, could net the culprits a vandalism charges, according to Ironton police detective Jim Akers.

No suspects have been named and no arrests have been made yet. Anyone with information pertaining to the vandalism may contact the Ironton Police Department at 532-2338.
