CHESAPEAKE - A win is a win is a win.

Even though Chesapeake coach Joe Waugh wasn't pleased with his team's play, he was more than happy to get a 15-9 win over the Rock Hill Redmen Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

"We played a little sloppy, but it's a win," Panthers coach Joe Waugh said. "We were happy with the win, but we were not happy with the game we played."

Waugh is also happy that the Panthers are now 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the OVC. Chesapeake plays at South Point Monday in a battle for first place.

The Redmen opened with four runs in the first inning. After loading the bases, a walked forced in a run and Josh Moore cleared the bases with a double.

The Panthers got a run back in the bottom of the inning. Justin Finley was safe on a fielder's choice and Jeff Gilkison tripled.

In the third inning, Rock Hill got a run back as Moore singled, moved up on a passed ball and scored on Matt McFann's double.

Miller singled to start a two-run fourth inning for Rock Hill. Christian reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and scored on a hit by Justin Lavender. A throwing error allowed the second run to score.

Chesapeake put the game away with six runs in the sixth.

Marcum was safe on an error, moved up on a passed ball, and scored on a double by Pyles.

Finley was safe on an error and Gilkison had a two-run double. Whitmore was safe on an error, Henderson reached on a fielder's choice, and both moved up on a passed ball and scored on a hit by Kersten Harris.
