AID- It is both an educational experience and a community service opportunity. It is both a math assignment and an artistic endeavor.
Symmes Valley's stained glass auction is Thursday.
Nearly 80 eight graders at the middle school level have designed and constructed stained glass items
that will be sold to the highest bidder.
The shadow boxes, window panes and other items are tangible displays of
both learning and imagination, eight-grade teacher Becky Bowling said.
"The students integrate geometry, measurement, art and even technology,"
Bowling said.
"They really integrate four or five different areas as well as it being a community service project."
Bowling said last year's sale raised $10,000 for the American Cancer Society and for the class's annual trip.
The art will be on display throughout the day in the school gymnasium. The auction begins at 7 p.m.
