A South Point man has been charged in connection with the robberies of two Lawrence County pizzerias this summer. Another adult and a juvenile are being sought in connection with those crimes as well.
Jason Ackerson, 22, of 105 Center St., South Point, has been charged with one count of complicity to aggravated robbery.
Lawrence County Sheriff Tim Sexton said a second count could be added later.
"We believe that his vehicle was involved in both robberies," the sheriff said.
"We know he had knowledge of what happened."
Judy's Giovanni's on State Route 243 in Deering was robbed at gunpoint Aug. 26.
Two days later, the Giovanni's on State Route 141 in Aid was also robbed, also by gun-toting assailants.
Sexton said all three suspects were involved in the two robberies.
Ackerson is currently in the Cabell County, W.Va., Jail awaiting trial on charges of second offense DUI and being a fugitive from justice, according to West Virginia authorities.
Sexton praised the work of Lawrence County Sheriff's detective Shane Hanshaw, who was assigned to investigate the two robberies.
"Our detectives do a good job of following up on leads. It does take time to investigate these cases, and in crimes such as these we never stop following up on leads," Sexton said.
