Two Ironton girls escaped serious injury after the bicycle they were riding collided with a car at the corner of Fifth and Monroe streets Wednesday afternoon.
The two girls, 11 and 12 years old, were on one bike traveling northeast on Fifth Street when they ran into the path of a car driven by Ralph Whitman, 44, also of Ironton. Whitman's car was westbound on Monroe Street.
Ironton Police officer Pam Neal said neither girl was wearing a helmet or safety equipment. The two girls sustained only minor cuts and bruises and did not require medical attention. No citations were issued in the incident.
