PROCTORVILLE - Lori Harmon was her usual self. The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings hitters were full of themselves.

Harmon pitched another strong game while the offense enjoyed one of its best games in a 6-1 win over the Fairland Lady Dragons Tuesday.

Harmon struck out 10 and did not walk a batter as she pitched a three-hitter. Kayla Bowman went 4-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in to lead a 10-hit attack.

"That is the best we've hit the ball all year. They made a lot of errors, but we put the ball in play by hitting the ball," Vikings coach Jeff "Odie" Estep said.

"Harmon had another strong outing. She kept them off-balance and our defense played well. We made two errors early, but we didn't make another the rest of the game."

Each team scored in the first inning.

With one out, Harmon reached on an error, Tommie Holbrook had a two-out single, and Bowman was safe on an error as the run scored.

Fairland tied the game when Jennifer Jones was safe on an error, moved up on a passed ball, Megan Fisher reached on an error as Jones went to third, and Kate Nida put down a perfect squeeze bunt.

Symmes Valley took the lead for good with two runs in the second.

Erin Martin singled, moved up on a wild pitch, and scored when Jodi Black was safe on an error. Ginny Young hit into a fielder's choice sending Black to second where Black stole third and scored on a wild pitch.

The Lady Vikings got a run in the third when Holbrook walked, Bowman singled to center, and Rebecca Capper and Martin were safe on errors.

The lead went to 5-1 in the fourth as Holbrook singled with two outs and Bowman hit a screaming line drive for a double.

The final run came across the plate in the sixth.

Cassie Myers and Harmon singled to start the inning and Holbrook was safe on an error as Myers scored.

Jessica Mann suffered the loss. She struck out six and walked just one, but Fairland (7-3) was guilty of seven errors.

Symmes Valley, 13-4, hosts Portsmouth East Wednesday in a league game.
