From traditional Holy Week services to Easter plays to Passover services, a number of special church events are scheduled this week throughout Lawrence County.

In Athalia Friday, members of Dillon Chapel will have a cross walk. Church member Doris Ann said people will take turns carrying a life sized cross through town in a reenactment of Jesus Christ's walk to Calvary before he was crucified.

"This is to remind us of what Christ did for us," Ann said. "He saw fit to die for our sins. He did this for us."
