INEZ, Ky. -- Martin County, Ky. Sheriff's deputies have asked for state and even federal help in their investigation of a tow truck that was stolen in Chesapeake, and recovered in Martin County, Ky.
Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said that a 1982 tow truck belonging to Nicely's Towing was taken from the Nicely property at approximately 1:30 a.m. A person on the premises reported seeing the truck taken. The truck was recovered on Rock House Road in Martin County between 9 and 10 a.m. yesterday. No arrests have been made yet, but Martin County Sheriff Garmon Preece said he does expect that arrests are forthcoming.
"We've got one man talking, and he is cooperating some," Martin County Sheriff Garmon Preece said. " My guess is, though, that more than one person is involved but we're only talking to one person right now. We hope to get the state police involved, possibly the federal people if we can get them."
Preece said since the truck was taken from Ohio and across state lines, he may ask for federal help to insure he has a solid case against those involved. He also said he would be glad to get the help since he is a new sheriff.
Preece said the tow truck was in excellent condition when it was found.
