Museum preparing for holidays

The stockings are being hung by the chimney with care. Along with bows and dozens upon dozens of ornaments.
Members of the Lawrence County Historical Museum this week are making final preparations for the museum's holiday season.
Museum President Naomi Deere said each room in the museum is being decorated, most with a Victorian theme.
"We do something different every year," Deere said. "We've done the Victorian theme before, but this one will be a little different."
The holiday display will begin Sunday, Nov. 3 and continue through Dec. 15 when the museum closes for the season.
The first event of the holiday season will be programs by Jean Butler, a retired school teacher. She will dress in period costume and present "The Pilgrim Lady" and The Inn Keeper."
This year's holiday offerings will also include two Christmas Teas.
"It was such a popular idea last year, and the response was so overwhelming, that we're having two this year," Deere said.
The first will be Nov. 16 and the second Nov. 23. Both teas will be at 2 p.m. at the museum.Those who attend will also view a fashion show of clothing from the 1820's. The dresses belonged to the family of Dr. William F. Marting.
On Sunday, Nov. 17, Ironton pianist Greg Walbright will perform.
On Saturday, Nov. 30,
children may visit the museum for a carriage ride with Santa.
The annual Candle Light Church Walk, a tour of historic downtown Ironton churches will be 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Refreshments will be served after the yearly tour.
On Sunday, Dec. 8, the museum will again offer a children's program with Ronald McDonald.
The museum is open 1-5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
