May 7, 1921-May 12, 2002 – COAL GROVE -- Lula E. Carter, 81, of
Coal Grove died Sunday at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky.
The Coal Grove native was born May 7, 1921, the daughter of the late Willard Matney and Parnell Waugh Matney.
She was a housewife.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Carter; twin sister, Lola Matney Stacey; sister, Louise Matney Black; one brother, Rev. Willard Matney Jr.; two infant brothers; and one grandson, Dwayne J. Carter.
Survivors include one son, David Jeffrey and Wilma Carter of Chillicothe; one daughter, Sally Jo Carter of Coal Grove; two grandchildren, Tammy L. Hartrum of Mannheim, Germany, and Ken Lee Carter of Chillicothe; two great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Eloise Clark and Janice Sharp, both of Coal Grove; Mildred Coster of Flatwoods, Ky., and Rose Geraldine Matney of Nova Scotia, Canada.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Woodland Cemetery, section P, with brother Bobby Dudding officiating. There will be no visitation. Tracy Brammer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
