COAL GROVE – Customers of Coal Grove’s water system have been put on a 24-hour boil advisory after the villages main water line broke yesterday evening.
According to Mark Dean, village administrator, the 8-inch line ruptured around 5 p.m. Thursday. The cause of the break is unknown at this time, but Dean suspects the erratic weather conditions could have played a role.
"At this time of year, it heats up and cools off and the ground moves," he said.
Four workers from the village’s water department worked until about 2:45 a.m. today to fix the line. Dean said because the break was near an electric pole, AEP was called for assistance to hold up the pole.
None of the village’s 1,400 customers were without water, Dean said, but pressure was lost.
Due to the break, the Dawson-Bryant Local School District cancelled classes for today.
