The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings got what they were looking for. Needing a win to get back some confidence, the Lady Vikings whipped the St. Joe Female Flyers 61-15 Thursday.
"We shot a little better today and that helped," Lady Vikings coach Lisa Bryant said. "We played hard and we played better as a team than we have all year. That’s what we’ve been looking for and hopefully this will get us on track."
Symmes Valley (5-7) hit 26 of 69 shots for 37 percent, well above the 19 percent it shot in a loss Monday.
Dusty Martin scored 14 points – 12 the first half- to lead the Lady Vikings (5-7). Shauna Rose had 10 points and 11 rebounds off the bench, Keren Bell had 10 points, six rebounds, eight steals, and three assists in a solid all-around performance, and Anna Bodmer scored 11 points.
After taking a 14-4 first quarter lead, Martin scored scored eight points the second quarter as the Lady Vikings built a 30-12 halftime cushion.
Kristina Harvey scored six points and Sarah Webb five to lead the Female Flyers.
"St. Joe played hard. They scrapped and played hard," Bryant said.
Symmes Valley plays at 6:30 p.m. Monday at South Gallia.
