Liebert Corp. announced this morning that the company will invest another $1 million in its Ironton plant, part of ongoing expansion plans.

Corporate officials approved the $1 million two weeks ago for a powder paint room, said Bob Walters, plant manager in Ironton.

"This shows continued support and commitment both from Emerson and Liebert for this area and our associates," Walters said.

The new specially-designed room, which will be used to paint items produced on the plant’s several lines, means the plant will become that more self-sufficient. Current painting operations are done in Columbus.

The addition also means a boost in employment, Walters said. At least eight new workers will be needed right away, with another eight likely in the future, he said.

Liebert, which signed a 10-year lease in April 2000 on the former Cabletron building, is a division of St. Louis-based Emerson Electric Co. It makes advanced air conditioning and environmental control equipment.
