PEDRO – Hard work pays off. And how. The Rock Hill Redwomen put in a hard day at the office and routed the Raceland (Ky.) Lady Rams 76-53 Monday.
"The difference is we actually played hard the whole game and ran the floor. Our defense created our offense. And 13 turnovers isn’t too bad for a game,"
"We took care of the ball, but our defense created a lot and that’s what I was most proud of. That’s what we emphasize and talk about before the game," Redwomen coach Amy Hughes said.
Courtney Doughman scored 20 points to lead for Redwomen in double figures. Jordan Edwards scored 19 points, Rachel Hartwig had 16 points, and Miranda Edwards added 13.
Rock Hill, 5-0, bolted to a 21-9 first quarter lead as Doughman and Miranda Edwards had seven points.
Jordan Edwards knocked down 10 p points and Hartwig scored six as the Redwomen extended their lead to 45-20 at the half.
Hughes was not only happy with the starters, but she had praise for her reserve.
"We got great play from our bench. We had a 10-man rotation and they gave us some good minutes and we didn’t have any drop-off when they were in the game," said Hughes.
In the reserve game, Rock Hill won 63-17. Monica Bamer got 17 points and six rebounds., Laura Ferrell 13 points and nine rebounds and Ashley Harris had 13 points.
