Starting Saturday, Ironton City Council will have a new look.
Tomorrow evening, council newcomers Bob Isaac and John Elam will be sworn in to office, along with re-elected members Jim Tordiff, Richard Price and Brent Pyles.
Jesse Roberts, incoming council chairman, said tomorrow’s meeting – an organizational meeting scheduled every two years – is the only council meeting required by city charter. The meeting not only calls for the swearing in of new members, but council will also fill the positions of city finance director, currently held by Cindy Anderson; council clerk currently held by Janet Hieronimus, and city solicitor, held by Mack and Bob Anderson. Roberts will also appoint councilmembers to the various council committees.
Council members will have a busy month ahead of them. By charter, council is required to have a temporary budget in place by the end of the month. A finance committee meeting will be held later next week.
Tomorrow’s meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. at the City Center.
