Last night, Santa Claus came to town.
The Ironton Business Association’s annual Christmas Parade was held Monday, ushering in the Christmas season. The parade has been held for about a decade and this year’s theme was "Peace on Earth."
Lou Pyles, parade director, said several hundred participants showed up to help bring St. Nick to Ironton. Pyles said the parade is "good for the kids and good for the community." She said the parade brings people to town and "gets people in the holiday spirit."
After the parade, Santa went to the City Center and talked with kids. Pyles said Santa talked to about 15 kids who took some time to sit on Santa’s lap and recite their Christmas wish-list.
Ironton Mayor Bob Cleary said this year’s parade was one of the best held, with a large number of people lining Ironton’s streets to watch the parade.
Pyles said about a dozen volunteers helped pull the parade together and, "I hope everyone enjoyed it."
