According to Linda Herrell, her husband is listed in critical, but stable condition at the hospital’s SICU unit. Herrell has been undergoing treatment for his heart condition since Feb. 19.

After having trouble breathing, Mr. Herrell went to King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. for testing. He was admitted to the hospital and on Feb. 22 underwent open heart surgery. He was then transported to OSU, where he had a second surgery this past Tuesday.

Mrs. Herrell said his heart is beating on its own and he is breathing on his own.

"We were told by the doctors that he is a success story," Mrs. Herrell said. "The OR nurse tells us he’s a miracle."

Since he has been in the hospital, Mrs. Herrell said her husband receives about 100 phone calls a day.

"We want to thank our friends and family for all of the prayers and support they have given us," Mrs. Herrell said.
