With the job market as competitive as ever, it is imperative to be armed with more than a high school diploma.

To stress the importance of a higher education, the Ohio Board of Regents has embarked on a tour of the state to deliver the message. With the "Ohio Success Express", the Board of Regents not only lets students know the importance of higher education, but also how accessible getting one actually is.

Last Tuesday, the "Success Express" pulled into Ironton High School to offer assistance to sophomores and juniors in choosing which college is right for them and how to go about getting financial aid.

The Board of Regents’ message rings loud and clear. Higher education is not a luxury anymore. It is becoming a necessity.

Offering students help in selecting a career and letting them know how to go about doing it is one way the state can get involved in urging our youth to further their eduction. The Ohio Board of Regents should be commended for their efforts and dedication to our children.
