WELLSTON – When your leading scorer sits out nearly two quarters in foul trouble, then you should be in trouble.
But that wasn’t the case Thursday night for the Rock Hill Redmen.
With David Schug in foul trouble early, Gabe Ruggles and Robbie McClellan stepped up to lead the Redmen to a 64-41 rout of the Village Academy Griffins in the Wellston Holiday Tournament.
Rock Hill (2-4) will play Wellston at 8 p.m. in the championship game at 8 p.m. Friday. The consolation game matches Ironton St. Joe and Village Academy at 6 p.m.
Ruggles had a career-high 21 points and McClellan, a freshman, had his best-ever total with 17 points to key the win.
McClellan had seven points the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 15-11 lead.
Ruggles came back to score seven more in the second quarter as Rock Hill held to a 26-20 halftime lead.
