A four-wheeler accident injured a Decatur Township man Tuesday, emergency officials said.
Arthur Fitzpatrick Jr., 210 County Road 51, Pedro, was transported to Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital with a possible broken leg after the 4 p.m. accident, said county Red Cross coordinator Annabelle Jenkins, who responded to assist search and rescue workers.
Fitzpatrick said he was riding a four-wheeler in the woods behind his home when he hit a hole he didn’t see, Mrs. Jenkins said.
"He was thrown off the four-wheeler about 30 feet over an embankment," she said.
Decatur Township Volunteer Fire Department rescuers responded, with help from state wildlife officer Bryan James and others. Ohio watercraft officer Dean Palmer, who was nearby when he heard the call, also assisted, Mrs. Jenkins said.
A Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Service crew in Oak Hill responded to transport Fitzpatrick after firefighters carried him out, she said.
