Thanks to the rain, we have two for the price of one. The postseason will overlap with the regular season this week as sectional tournament play gets underway.

In the boys Division III baseball tournament on Thursday, May 4, Wheelersburg (16-1) drew the top seed and will host Chesapeake (4-10) while Fairland (10-3) is at home against Coal Grove (6-5).

The two winners meet Thursday, May 11, at the field of the Wheelersburg-Chesapeake winner.

In the upper bracket Friday, May 5, Ironton (9-7) hosts Oak Hill (13-5) Friday while Minford (18-3) is at home against South Webster (11-9). The winners meet Friday, May 12, at the field of the Ironton-Oak Hill winner.

Sectional champions advance to district play.

Portsmouth (14-4) was the top seed in the Division II baseball sectional.

Rock Hill (2-9) plays at Northwest (10-8) Thursday, May 4, with the winner going to Portsmouth Thursday, May 11.

Also on May 11, South Point (11-5) hosts Jackson (10-8).

The two winners advance to the district.

All games are at 5 p.m.

In the boys Div. IV, top-seeded Symmes Valley (10-2) will host St. Joe (4-6) while Green is at home against Portsmouth East.

South Gallia originally had been scheduled to play in the sectional, but the school dropped baseball early in the season.

East was in another sectional, but was moved to the local sectional to replace South Gallia.

The games will be played at 5 p.m. Monday, May 8. The two winners advance to the district tournament.

In girls softball, tournament play begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 3.

Portsmouth (16-2) hosts Wheelersburg (12-9) while Chesapeake (13-5) entertains Fairland (12-4). The two winners meet Wednesday, May 10, at the home field of the Portsmouth-Wheelersburg winner.

In the lower bracket, Portsmouth West (14-2) takes on Rock Hill (5-11) and Ironton (12-2) hosts South Point (12-6). The two winners meet Wednesday, May 10, at the home field of the West-Rock Hill winner.

All games are 5 p.m.

The Div. III sectional begins Tuesday, May 2, with three games.

Green (3-5) hosts Portsmouth East (4-6), Coal Grove (0-6) travels to South Webster (13-5), and St. Joe (4-6) entertains South Gallia (1-13).

In the second round Monday, May 8, top-seeded Symmes Valley is host to the Green-East winner while the South Webster-Coal Grove winner will be at home against the St. Joe-South Gallia winner.

All games are at 5 p.m.
