Some of Ironton’s residents probably already have their tickets for this weekend’s St. Joseph High School Variety Show. In fact, those who are associated with the show are predicting a record turnout.
But for those of you who have not already bought your tickets, there is still time left to relive your youth – and to help a good cause at the same time.
The Variety Show is special – a tradition at the school for many years.
The students work long and hard to practice their lines, learn their songs and design their sets to provide their classmates – and audiences – with the best possible theater-going experience.
This year’s theme is the automobile, and the students have worked hard to create the atmosphere of an old drive-in, complete with a real car – well, at least a half of one, anyway.
This weekend’s show is a chance to remember what it was like back in high school, humming a few bars from some of the many tunes that characterized your generation.
But that is only one of the benefits to becoming a patron at this weekend’s show.
The proceeds from the annual event will be used to help fund the city’s Catholic schools.
Keeping not just one, but two, schools open in a city this small is no easy task. Fundraising is a constant – and that is in addition to finding quality staff and attracting students.
Events like the Variety Show are chances for community members to see the high caliber of these schools and their students.
Paying the rather modest ticket price will buy you more than just a couple of hours of entertainment. That fee also will help offer students a choice of where they want to attend school – and to give public schools a little healthy competition.
