Kasich orders Lawrence County flags lowered in honor of Chesapeake officer

COLUMBUS — Ohio Gov. John Kasich has ordered flags on public buildings in Lawrence County to be lowered to half-staff on the day of the funeral of Chesapeake Police Officer Aaron Christian.
Christian, 24, died Tuesday of injures sustained in a Sept. 18 single-vehicle crash in his cruiser on Ohio Route 7 between Chesapeake and Proctorville.
“In honor of the life and service of Chesapeake Police Officer Aaron Christian, I hereby proclaim, by the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Ohio by the Ohio Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, that the flags of the United States of America and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Lawrence County from sunrise to sunset on October 22, 2016,” the proclamation from the governor’s office, released Friday said.
Christian’s funeral is set for noon on Saturday at Ironton High School, with burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m.-noon at the school.
