It has been said that every coaching job is interim. And when a coach doesn’t do well, they usually aren’t rehired.
But for Coal Grove head football coach Brian Kidd and Rock Hill head football coach Todd Knipp, even success couldn’t save their jobs.
Kidd was not renewed by the Dawson-Bryant School Board early last week and then Knipp was not retained on Thursday.
Kidd took over last season when head coach and Hall of Famer Dave Lucas was not rehired creating another controversy.
With only one starter back on offense and two on defense, Kidd guided the Hornets to a 6-4 record in his first season as a head coach.
Knipp has been the head coach at Rock Hill for 11 years and his team was 6-3 last season and qualified for the playoffs.
Knipp had one Ohio Valley Conference title to his credit and three playoff berths.
Coal Grove will be taking applications for the job through Monday.
While both coaches may re-apply for their jobs, Kidd is not expected to be reconsidered by Coal Grove.
However, he may be on the list at Rock Hill. Kidd was a standout fullback and linebacker at Rock Hill.
