Ohio House District 90 Rep. Terry Johnson will serve his third term in the legislature after winning re-election on Tuesday over Democrat challenger Thomas Jefferson Davis.
Johnson garnered 13,420 votes, nearly doubling the total received by Davis, who received 7,735.
All of Scioto and Adams counties and part of Lawrence County comprise the 90th District. The race was closest in Lawrence County, with Johnson winning by 408 votes, 1,805 to 1,397.
Johnson received 4,181 to Davis’ 1,854 in Adams County and in Scioto County Johnson received 11,599 to Davis’ 6,599.
“Serving in the Ohio Statehouse as the representative of the 90th District has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Johnson said. “I love my friends and neighbors. I will continue to work my heart out for them. I will continue to be their champion in Columbus.”
Johnson, a physician and the only medical doctor in the state legislature, has fought against prescription drug abuse, championing House Bill 93, which effectively shut down area “pill mills.”
Johnson joined the Ohio Army National Guard while still in medical school and served two tours in Iraq.
He served as Scioto County Coroner for 10 years before being elected to the Ohio Legislature.
