WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings are starting to get a little here and a little there to give them all they need.

With added scoring options and strong defensive efforts, the Lady Vikings beat the New Boston Lady Tigers 51-38 on Monday in a Southern Ohio Conference Div. I game.

“We’re starting to get a lot of contributions from a lot of different players. It’s becoming a team effort,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Brandon Walker.

“Waddell and Johnson have done a good job rebounding and scoring and Davis and Hunt have given us some scoring and (Sarah) Crabtree is giving us good minutes off the bench.”

Gracie Waddell had 11 points and 7 rebounds and Megan Johnson had 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals to lead the Lady Vikings (3-2, 3-2).

But there was also Miranda Davis with 10 points and Kalli Hunt with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals.

On the defensive side, Hannah Maynard held New Boston’s Miranda Litz scoreless.

“New Boston had 10 3-pointers in their last game and eight in the game before that. Litz had seven alone and she didn’t score. Maynard didn’t do much that shows up in the stat sheets, but she did a great job on Litz,” said Walker.

Davis and Johnson had 4 points each in the first quarter as Symmes Valley took a 14-7 lead.

Waddell and Davis scored 4 each in the second quarter and the lead was 26-17 at the break.

It was Johnson and Maynard scored 4 points apiece in the third quarter and the Lady Vikings were on top 40-27.

Kierstan McGraw of New Boston led all scorers with 23 points.

The Lady Vikings play at Western Pike on Thursday in a league game.
