Dr. Johnson should make ‘House’ call

Leadership is a trait that is often spoken of far too loosely when it comes to elected officials.
But Dr. Terry Johnson has demonstrated those qualities while serving the United States of America in the National Guard during wartime.
Those unique experiences and his medical background set him apart from his opponent and would allow him to bring a much-needed perspective to the Ohio House of Representatives. For that Dr. Johnson is the best candidate to represent Southern Ohio in the 89th District that includes western Lawrence County.
His opponent, Democrat Ron Hadsell, offers some intriguing qualities with his background in economic development and job creation.
Hadsell could certainly offer some of that knowledge to the legislature if given the opportunity.
However he will likely be just as, or more, effective if he remains in the private sector.
Overall, Johnson’s work as the Scioto County coroner to take an aggressive stance toward prescription drug abuse showed that he has the vision and tenacity to tackle what some would say is an insurmountable problem.
With Ohio likely to face a variety of challenges associated with Medicaid and health care reform, it might be more important than ever to have a physician in the legislature.
It may be a rare occurrence in today’s culture, but hopefully Terry Johnson will be given the the opportunity to make a “House” call.
